About three years ago I made a career jump and uprooted myself to Colorado. It’s been one of the most amazing journeys of my life thus far, and through all the ups and downs, thicks and thins, I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. I came to Colorado for a job, but ended up meeting some of the more beautiful, amazing people that will stick with me for the remainder of my life. This little guy happens to be the next generation of two of these people.
I met Jamie my first year on the ranch, very close to the beginning. She’s the type of person we’re all secretly (or not so secretly) jealous of because she’s introspective and extroverted and adventurous and opportunistic and so on. She takes advantage of every second and has some of mot amazing adventures and stories of anyone I know. She smiles 98% of the time and lives life 80% barefoot. She’s beautiful and more full of life than most. I heart her… can you tell?
Jamie met Caleb (and so did I) a few months later. Caleb is like Jamie, but lives life 99% barefoot, with equally large smiles and laughs. He is a free spirit with the biggest heart and an unquenchable thirst for adventure – rock climbing, naked rock sunbathing, yetti costume wearing adventure. You won’t watch him without his backpack and a book. Actually, that’s true for both of them. And you won’t find either of them without an instrument in hand or nearby… ever.
Jamie and I had bonded over belly dancing workout videos and rom coms during late nights in the ranch viewing room. So when Caleb arrived and I could see their matching twinkly eyes and admiration and respect for one another I silently started rooting for them. I still am… just not so silently anymore. There couldn’t be two more beautifully matched people than these two.
And then… they had a baby. And it was scary and exciting and tense and exhilarating all at once. And I wasn’t even there for it. And the whole time I was rooting. And then came Jethro. The product of the two most barefoot, smiley, musical, and fantastical people I know. This was my first time meeting him, but I can’t wait to see him grow and meet the person he is going to become. I have not an inkling of doubt of the risks he will take and greatness he will grasp, all while his two rockstar parents cheer him on in the background of his life.
I feel blessed to know these three people. And although Caleb isn’t in these photos in person, he’s there… and you don’t have to look far to find him. I hope to keep photographing these guys forever and ever and ever and ever…. well, you get the idea.
Side note… if I ever have a baby of my own, I must learn this girl’s secret to bouncing back. It’s as if she never had a baby!
I can’t help but to share this one. BEST. BABY. BLOOPER. PHOTO. EVER. You’d better be laughing. Possibly close to peeing.
