Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | Jordan and Daniel

Jordan and Daniel tied the knot on September 27th – a day that just so happens to be very dear to me, as well. I celebrated my first anniversary by digging into the details of their day, their wedding, and their relationship, to create a photo-story of what is important to them. This post literally contains one TENTH of what they are getting in return (WHOA) – and even at that I may need to cut this down a bit. 😉 And since I like to write, but there is A LOT in this post, make sure to read ((literally)) in between the (photo) lines to get the goods!

I shot this wedding without a second shooter, so my day started early with the guys… and all of ‘his’ details. I’m really drawn to these shots lately. Mind you, I had to shoot these shots more than once, because only after I had finished did I realize the suspenders had protective stickers on the snaps to preserve the metal. They were rectangular… the suspender snaps… are not.

Daniel and the guys got ready in a super bright aqua room. I will admit I was a bit leery at first, but it proved to be the perfect backdrop. 😉

Call me old fashioned, but I’m a firm believer that guys should wear suspenders… all of the time. With cardigans, please. Think Mr. Rogers. Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | casey and her cameraIndianapolis Wedding Photographer | casey and her camera

Don’t go anywhere without your pocket knife… you never know when your going to need it to cut stay-stitches off of your new suit. 😉

PEOPLE. This room (where Jordan got ready with the help of her Mom and Grandma) is where her Mom grew up. Seriously. Is there any more sentiment we could possible throw in here??

Older houses had AWESOME wallpaper. This hallway was just upstairs and had AMAZING light. I just knew I had to use it and I LOVELOVELOVE how this came out.

See, Linda? No vacuum. 😉

Definitely a Pinterest-inspired wedding. Jordan paid attention to every little detail and I can’t even begin to touch on all of them here. You would be scrolling for daaaayyyyysssss.

There is a lot of meaning in this image, too. When I was photographing the reception space (Jordan’s Grandpa’s workshop/barn) a family member came up to me and gushed about how amazing this space was and how I should have seen what it looked like before. While I don’t have a before photo, I could tell that A LOT of work was put into transforming this space into a magical reception ‘venue’ and it was absolutely perfect for Jordan and Daniel. Indianapolis Wedding Photographer | casey and her camera

Also… this cake!? MADE BY HER GRANDMA!!! Talk about a woman of MANY talents – this not only was meticulous in detail, but it smelled (yes, smelled… try photographing a cake, folks) FANTASTIC and it tasted pretty fabulous, too. 🙂

His and hers rings… and her Grandpa’s ring tied to her bouquet so she could carry a piece of him with her on her wedding day. <3

Her bouquet is made of WOOD. Check out Heart and Sola’s work.

I adore photos like these. I always make sure (especially when working by myself) that I get what I need to once the bride and groom are ‘at the alter’ and then I turn it around on the families. The front rows of a wedding are where many important things happen and images like these are even more significant to a couple because you don’t have even half a second to look around at your audience when you are marrying your best friend.

She wanted a photo on her Grandpa’s tractor… and she wore sneakers. New fav!

She and her dad danced and at the end they both tightened up and held onto one another for a while longer in what is, quite possibly, the sweetest father-daughter dance moment I have photographed to-date.

Much fighting ensued…. suspenders snap…. victory was achieved.

If you caught my post on shot lists the other day, here is another reason I don’t follow one. The images speak for themselves… completely unposed… unaware they’re even being photographed… but sums up their story just perfectly. 🙂

The evening ended with a lantern release. Read more about my experience with this on Facebook! Could not be happier with how these turned out. High ISO and some blind focusing made this totally come true. In hindsight, I should have set up my flash to assist in my focusing (but not used it for lighting), but everything happened so quickly there wasn’t much time to think set-up. I got the shots, regardless, there are just ways to make this a bit easier.
