We may have had some rainy weather over the last week or so, but that didn’t stop us from fitting this Indianapolis engagement session in and boy am I glad we did. There’s nothing quite as nerve-wracking as taking a gamble with the weather when clients are on the calendar. There’s a lot of time that goes into getting ready and getting to the location and I’m always on the edge of my seat waiting to find out if we made the right decision or not. On this particular occasion, I would have called it, but Mallory was up for anything (and is one of the most positive and optimistic people you will meet) and thought we should go for it. I could not be more grateful to her for that extra push because man-oh-man did we luck out with our weather and our sunset.
Our risk was even greater than just ruined hair and makeup and a reschedule, though, because Brad brought along his hot rod to the session for some photos and it doesn’t have a top. 😱 For all you car enthusiasts out there, it needs to be noted that Brad built this car and is a mechanical magician. The clouds loomed over us for the first half of the session, threatening rain, but it never even sprinkled on us. The sun just kept peeking out and things got better and better as the session went on. Plus, they brought along their two pups, Jake and Remi, and I brought along my own Brad to help wrangle them in between shots and we all had a grand old time, so much so that our session went on longer than planned. There were no complaints from anyone, though, (especially the pups) as it just felt like friends hanging out for an evening… with multiple wardrobe changes, a hot rod, and a camera. You know… the norm. 😉
Mallory and Brad are getting married this October and I’m so excited to be there with them. Mallory and I connected recently and after meeting in person I had my fingers crossed she would book me for their wedding. She’s just one of those people you want to be around. I left our consultation feeling her energy and was so excited to meet Brad and see them as a couple for their engagement session. They made my job a breeze, folks. They’re such a good match on so many levels and I love shooting couples who can play and laugh together – there’s just nothing better. Mallory may have had a Pinterest board for inspiration for this shoot, but their natural demeanor and the way they just fit together on all levels blew that board out of the water. I couldn’t get them to stop smiling if I’d wanted to.
To Mallory and Brad, thank you for such a fantastically wonderful evening. I’m sad it’s over, but am already looking forward to our time together this October. Can’t wait to see you all again so soon!!
