If you saw yesterday’s post, or maybe if you’re a fitness fan yourself, you already know that Beachbody held it’s 2018 Coach Summit here in Indianapolis this year. And guess what!? They’re returning again next year! I had such a blast shooting lifestyle headshots for teams this year and am already looking forward to connecting with more folks next year. It was like an afternoon of just hanging out with the girls, despite having never met these women before.
This lifestyle headshot session was completely unique in that I had the opportunity to slowly meet the women of the team over a period of a few hours before coming all together as one large group for team photos. I was able to schedule individual 30-minute segments for some of them who wanted more complete headshots with wardrobe changes and various backdrops. What was even better, was that they shared some of this time and showed up in groups and pairs, making it even more fun for them as they swapped in and out, hanging out and even sipping cocktails in between!
We had a chaotic and unpredictable forecast and sky for the afternoon of our session, so we settled on a couple of indoor location options and I’m glad we did. Not only was it really humid outside, but it rained on and off throughout our time. We started out with our individual headshot segments at the Alexander Hotel in downtown Indy. While this location is reserved for weddings and wedding parties during busy weekends, they welcomed us in for a mid-week afternoon session while their lobby areas were open to the public. This turned out to be the perfect spot for these more in-depth and personal segments, as the artwork and decor within the lobbies is dramatic and well-styled and has gorgeous lighting. Each of these women were able to quickly change in the nearby restroom (something an outdoor location wouldn’t have accommodated as easily!) and we were able to get such a variety for each of them!
From there, we jetted over to the Indianapolis Artsgarden for some shorter headshot segments with the rest of the team, rounding it all out with team photos in the beautiful glass dome that’s suspended over the city. We ended up with awesome lighting at the end of our time together and it felt like the icing on the cake.
There’s something to be said about finding your tribe as an adult. There’s so much to each person’s life – work, family, health, fitness, finance,… the list goes on and on. It can be hard to find balance within it all and make time to connect and build a social network. Throughout this session and and afterwards, I have not only learned through conversation, but seen first hand through their interactions, that they have found a way to combine some of these parts of life in order to better balance the day-to-day. These women have each other’s backs through all parts of life, despite being separated out across the country.
Ladies, thank you for having me along last week and for being so flexible to the changing elements! It was such at treat to spend the afternoon with you!
