Indianapolis Family Photographer | casey and her camera
With all this upcoming change and excitement, I’ve had a little time to review my 2014 goals for the year to see where I’m at. We’re over halfway through the year (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?) and it’s time to crack down and put things into perspective. To drive my point home, a Christmas song just came on my iTunes while I type away.
At the beginning of the year I filled several pages with goals for 2014 ranging in size and reachability.
Here’s where I started out the year and where I’m at now:
Book and shoot 3 weddings
Begin shooting clients in location (i.e. Colorado)
Be published (according to my definition of publication)
Create and print professional care cards (print rights, gallery info, etc.)
Firm up packages, pricing, a la carte items, and discounts
Prepare for 25% Friends & Family Retirement
Rework website
Update online portfolio
Rebrand (new logo, logo as a brush in PSD, consistent watermark, etc.)
Create my own editing presets
Create and utilize a 100% digitally fillable contract
Learn to use Wacom tablet
Learn graphic design programs (Illustrator, InDesign)
As you can see, there’s nothing left on the list. Here’s the list again, but this time with some updates notes and ‘next steps’.
Book and shoot 3 weddings 3 booked – 1 shot
Begin shooting clients in location (i.e. Colorado) 2 CO sessions shot this year
Be published (according to my definition of publication) This year’s publications. Up next… print publication!
Create and print professional care cards (print rights, gallery info, etc.) Quick and painless. Up next… custom thank you cards!
Firm up packages, pricing, a la carte items, and discounts Done and done. There are even custom wedding welcome kits to prove this. Up next… 2015 pricing and package updates!
Prepare for 25% Friends & Family Retirement Check! Get it while it’s hot, folks. This is only good through 12.31.14!
Rework website Done. Twice. Up next… SEO updates! 😀
Update online portfolio See above.
Rebrand (new logo, logo as a brush in PSD, consistent watermark, etc.) Check! There’s a new logo, brand, and there may even be an addition and a slogan coming soon.
Create my own editing presets Complete! I use a couple different personally made presets to get the base of my edits down. From there I tweak as I please.
Create and utilize a 100% digitally fillable contract Up next… an updated version with easier readability.
Learn to use Wacom tablet Wondering how I ever used a mouse in the first place….
Learn graphic design programs (InDesign) I wouldn’t say I’m fluent, by any means, but I can get around.
So there it is. A mid-year check in. After putting all of this in writing, I feel inspired to get up and start working on the rest of the year and planning for 2015! This is what I look like when I’m super excited about accomplishing my 2014 goals (and realizing I didn’t set the bar high enough for myself). Time to believe in me, in casey and her camera, and get after it!
And ironically, another Christmas song is now playing. I think I need to check my iTunes settings…
