Photographers in Indianapolis, Indiana | A Birthday Session

A couple of weeks ago this sweet girl turned six and the only thing she wanted in the whole world for her birthday was to get her hair dyed pink. Jennie booked an appointment for her littlest girl at em Studio Salon in Brownsburg, Indiana, and they made her dreams come true… with two-week temporary dye. 😉

Jennie has been one of my biggest fans as I’ve become part of the large community of photographers in Indianapolis, Indiana. She’s always one of the first to like and share my social media shares and sings my praises from the rooftops. She sends referrals my way and while we’ve only gotten the chance to work together once before this shoot, she’s always in the background cheering on my work, and it’s those little things that stand out to me most. So when I saw on Jennie had made Mal’s dreams come true for her sixth birthday, I felt it in my heart to take it one step further… both for Mal and her momma. It was my turn to be Jennie’s biggest fan – I think she’s an amazing mother and just adore that she made this birthday so special for her girl.

In addition to her love of pink hair, Mal also has a love of mermaids, unicorns, and all things magical. She got a mermaid bathing suit for her birthday and the vision just popped into my head. Jennie and I quickly put together our ideas and Jennie amazon-ed (that’s a thing, right?!) like no one’s business and put together a unicorn outfit for Mal… complete with a unicorn cupcake from The Flying Cupcake (YUM). We met for a quick  session at my favorite creek and brought Mal’s dreams to life.

Beyond that? Mal brought with her one of the painted rocks that’s a part of the Brownsburg Rocks project. I was just down at the creek again yesterday and have to tell her – her rock is gone! This is a good thing – it means someone else has found it and moved it on to spread positivity to someone else. <3 You can follow the project here on Facebook.

Every once in a while an opportunity comes along to give back to those who have helped you along the way and if you blink you could miss those moments. Jennie, thank you for always being a supporter of my work and my art and thank you for being such an inspirational momma. This is for both of you. <3
