Once or twice a year I like to moonlight as a Michigan wedding photographer. And that means once or twice a year, I shoot a couple of engagement sessions amongst my annual Michigan family sessions. And this is one of those times. Except that the rest of my sessions got rained out, but I didn’t come home empty handed. I came home with the most magical September Michigan session there ever was. Helloooooo most perfect early fall evening.
Chad and Ellen are getting married next June, but I actually met them both years ago at another client’s wedding (hi Angelica and Aaron!). I think Aaron will probably take more of the credit for them being together as they weren’t dating at the time of their wedding, but I think Chad takes credit for Aaron’s disc golf skills, so maybe that makes them even.
This was my first time meeting with these two in person since all of our communication has been through phone or email and yet it all felt so comfortable and easy. Well, at least for me. I can’t speak on their behalf. Hah! For me, they were one of those couples that was just so easy to photograph – despite any nerves they might have had. They were complete naturals and focused on one another during the shoot and it made my evening. We used up every last ounce of light shed on us and explored every nook and cranny of my favorite Michigan spot for sessions. If only I could move this park to Indy, I would.
It’s engagement sessions like these that get me so excited for the wedding… and then I have to sit around and wait for a year. Whyyyy!? Either way, I CANNOT WAIT to celebrate you all next summer, Chad and Ellen! I’m counting down already!
