I’ve lost track of how many sessions I’ve had with Sarah and Cordon at this point, but this session marks my first session as seeing Hattie in her role as big sister and Emmett as a new big brother all over again. Newborn photos with siblings started to mean something different to me when my oldest (who is almost the same age as this big brother) became a big brother himself. I started to look for different things when I would shoot lifestyle newborn sessions for families with big siblings. The way little hands reach out to touch baby or count toes, those tiny little toddler kisses, snuggles with mom and dad snuck in while hands were free from snuggling baby.
Sure, newborn sessions are about the newest little family member and their entrance into the world. We want to remember all the little bits and pieces about them, but what I see more now as a parent (and as watching this family grow into a family of five over the past few years) are all the little sibling pieces, Mamas and Dadas with all of their babies, and all the love that fills in between every moment of chaos that comes with having three littles.
And even though I didn’t get a chance to blog Sarah and Cordon’s maternity session for sweet little Loretta, this one must have a place to live on my blog. I always find myself coming back to reference this family’s images over the years and I know this is one (and probably Sarah and Cordon) I’ll want to look back on as time passes.
Welcome to the world, Loretta.
