We’ve officially entered into my favorite season (and favorite) weather of the whole calendar year. At least I think so… but I admittedly haven’t looked at the forecast in a while. I’m just basking in these perfect temperatures, warm sunlight, and the subtle sound of wind chimes drifting in through my open window while I sit here and edit. Feeling caught up on my work has me reflecting on my business and dreaming up what next year has in store for this photographer.

All that aside, though, I got to meet the second little squish of my summertime momma’s from my series of maternity sessions. It’s always something special when you’ve shot multiple sessions for a family – I shot their first maternity and newborn sessions, as well. So to visit them in their new home and see some of those images printed on canvases on their walls might have brought a little lump to my throat. It’s one of those things that will never get old. Knowing that images are printed are one thing – I see order confirmations and place custom orders, but seeing them printed is another thing entirely. But their request to duplicate a shot from their first newborn session, just as a family of four this time, was the icing on top for me and I think we nailed it – energetic toddler and all. Jessica and Ashish did an excellent job of coordinating outfits to their first session… and now I see, to all of their sessions. After having seen their images printed on the walls, I can see that Jessica had a vision and made all of these decisions with careful intention.

And if you ever thought for even a second (based on my last blog post) that I have sleepy babies at my newborn sessions, this will show you the truth. You never really know what you’re going to get with lifestyle newborn photography – maybe awake, maybe asleep… and if you’re lucky, maybe a bit of both!
