Earlier this year I kicked off a newsletter for my Indy clients who were interested in signing up. I crossed-my-heart that I wouldn’t flood their inbox with useless information, and instead promised to only send the inside scoop on booking, promotions, and special treats just for them. Early this month, I emailed them some exciting information about something new I’m offering this holiday season… Holiday Minis!! Never before have I ever offered or shot mini sessions for folks – mini sessions just aren’t my jam. I love spending quality time with my clients and I don’t feel that I can truly capture the connection, emotion, and relationships between them in only 15-20 minute. This is especially true if I’ve never worked with a family or couple before. It takes most people 20 minutes to warm up to the camera and if that’s all I have, I just don’t feel I’ll be able to deliver true to my style.
But as I sat here and thought about all of my dear clients who book me throughout the year, I just found myself wanting to give back to them. Most of the families and couples I work with see me once or twice a year and by the time the holidays come around, the chances are really good that I’ve seen them in the last few months… so why not get them back in front of my camera for an extra 20 minutes to get some holiday-themed photos for their cards!?
And thus, the Holiday Mini was born… the casey and her camera version. Twenty minutes, for 2015-2016 clients only, holiday-themed attire (whatever you celebrate!), location options, digital downloads and print release, and… GET THIS… a CUSTOM CARD. Designed by the extraordinary talented (and gorgeous…. keep reading) Jenny of Vivian Elle Invitations. So we rolled it out, and it became so popular among my clients that I extended and expanded it. These sessions are available Monday-Thursday through December 8. You can get all the details here:
But that’s not really the point of this post. The point of this is that Jenny and I have been scheming this up for years. We actually rolled it out to Michigan clients several years ago and while Jenny and I had a blast playing dress up and having a photoshoot, there didn’t end up being any interest and the whole idea fizzled out. Fast forward to Indianapolis and I have many of you who like to schedule one of your annual sessions as your holiday photos, so what better way to get the most bang for your buck… and get some one-of-a-kind Vivian Elle cards that you can print to mail or send digitally!?
So Jenny updated her designs for our big reveal, and here we are. And then I got to thinking… I can’t very well let this adorable, kind-hearted momma go without her OWN holiday mini when she’s poured her heart into this project with me! And THAT brings me to the point of this post. While home in Michigan recently, I easily convinced her to put on her best holiday duds and get in front of my camera for the second time this year. So without sharing too much from their session (you have to wait for their holiday card for that!) here’s a quick teaser of our time spent at the park.
Can’t wait to get the rest of you in front of my camera for your own holiday mini!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the faces in these next two? I die.
Of course, I love me some details. Especially when they’re holiday-themed and teeny-tiny. <3
