Yay! I’m so excited for this extended family session at Newfields! It’s been a minute since I had an extended family session and I absolutely adore them. There’s just something about getting multiple generations, siblings, and cousins together into one frame that speaks to me. I think it’s because these moments are rare and fleeting as the world becomes a bigger and busier place. Family members don’t often live in close quarters to one another, or have visits where everyone is in the same place at the same time to be able to get a session in. Or sometimes, these visits fall around the holidays and families are too busy (or it’s too cold!) to make this happen. So when I get invited to shoot an extended family session, I always jump at the chance.
What makes this even sweeter, though, is that family on the left. They’ve been a long time client (and one of my first after moving here to Indy!) and I look forward to our session every year. This year, we shot our traditional winter session in the freezing cold, so this super hot and humid session was a change of pace for us. Either way, this just means I got to see them twice in one year! It gets better, still. A couple of years ago, I met Lindsay’s extended family in this shoot. For this session, I met Jason’s extended family and we spent the afternoon on the grounds at Newfields (formerly known as the IMA). Huge thanks to the Hamman family for being such troopers in this June weather! You all were wonderful!
