I may be a bit biased, but I’m a firm believer that gifting an extended family photography session is just about the best gift you could give. Every year, I secretly coordinate and schedule with clients who must be winning the ‘child of the year’ award from their parents as they gift their families sessions for various reasons. Last year I shot two sessions for Courtney and Jared as they gifted their families extended family sessions after their fall wedding. They wanted to take their time on the family photos and the rush of a wedding day often doesn’t allow for that, so the gifted sessions were their way of saying thank you, but also to slow down and spend more time with their families. One of their sessions happened to be at Coxhall Gardens and when I sent the session to Brittney as a sample, she was excited to see that she knew them! Brittney and Luke gifted this session to Brittney’s parents, who are first-time grandparents to little Liam. I’m excited to say I still have one more gifted family session on the calendar for this year… if we don’t get rained out for the 4th (or is it 5th?) time now.
Brittney’s mom chose Coxhall Gardens for our session after scouting out several spots around Indy. We ended up with gorgeous weather that we all enjoyed. The bugs also enjoyed the weather and I must’ve edited out 50+ gnats from some of our ending images. The spot was just too good to keep from shooting, not even a swarm of bugs could stop us! Lucky for me, everyone was a good sport about it and I just cleaned up things in editing. 😉Of course, with all of the attention on Liam, he wore out quickly and was asleep by mid-session. It’s not something that happens often, so we took advantage of his sweet sleepiness and snuck some shots that will just tug on your heartstrings.
I can’t even help myself. Someone didn’t get the memo. 😂
Oh, good. There we go.
