I didn’t think there was any greater honor than when a client or a couple booked you for your style. I only shoot a limited number of weddings each year, which means I don’t show up in the first few pages of a Google search for Indianapolis wedding photographers. So when a couple reaches out about shooting their wedding, I know they’re looking for something specific… and in some cases, have been looking for a while. Kristin and Ryan found me while looking at elopements at the Indiana State House and contacted me about shooting their October elopement. Here’s the thing, though, and this is the highest compliment a photographer could ever hope for, they were open to any date – they just wanted to work with me.
I usually meet with my couples in advance of their celebrations – even for elopements. Kristin and Ryan have busy work schedules and travel a lot (for both business and pleasure!) and were unable to meet prior to their ceremony, but showing up on the day of to meet them and capture everything for them was a breeze. They’re both easy going and sweet as can be, and best of all, head over heels for one another. Of course, you know me, I’m a sucker for details and sentiment, so to find out that a piece of her ring is on the inside of his ring to help both their rings fit more snugly had me swooning from the start. Her pearl necklace is a pearl Ryan got on a business trip any years before meeting Kristin, but held onto until he met the right one, and he picked out and designed her bouquet to keep the tradition of gifting her flowers each week alive on their wedding day.
We ended the day at Moe & Johnny’s in Broad Ripple, where it all began for them 2 years, 4 months, and 20 days prior. They met right there on the patio, in the sweltering summer heat, at the very same table where they ended their wedding day.
Congratulations, Kristin & Ryan, and thank you for having me along to document it all for you!
