It’s hard to believe that in just a few days (okay, four) this little ham will be ONE. How did that even happen?! Didn’t he just get here? It feels like just yesterday I was meeting him at his aunt’s wedding, shooting his newborn photos, or helping him ‘learn’ to swim this past summer. Even looking at their fall photos, it’s mind boggling to me how much can happen in a few short months. Yet, here we are. Just a few days from his first birthday.

You’ll find that this post is a bit different from my norm. While I don’t do any traditional studio work, I do have fun on occasion ‘playing studio’. Typically this means setting up shop in my living room and coaxing (i.e. bribing) my dogs to sit pretty for me. This time around, though, I zipped up to Michigan last weekend with all my gear in tow to set up a mini studio at these guys’ home for a special occasion. No way was I missing a chance to shoot a one year cake smash for this boy!

Thanks for being such good sports, Babinski family! I appreciate your baby wrangling skills and fearlessness of blue icing. 😉 Congratulations on one year! Enjoy your celebrations!
