When your first dance is to a live Mariachi band and your second first dance is a choreographed salasa dance? Yes, please.
Marisela and Quan met through salsa dancing (read more about that here!) and were the season kickoff for my 2019 Indianapolis weddings. So it was only natural that their wedding reception be at the beautiful 1899, a favorite Indy venue of mine for so many different reasons, and now because of the dancing possibilities! 💃🏻
I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple to start the season with – the day went perfectly as they celebrated each other with a ceremony at St. Pius that was filled with sentimental and cultural traditions. I am a sucker for personalized weddings (especially the ceremonies!) because they share with the guests the things and people that are most important to the couple’s story. Marisela and Quan were able to involve many different family members in their ceremony, which made it even sweeter.
They rode off in a vintage ’38 Cadillac, joined their family and friends for some romantic Mariachi music during cocktails, and the sweetest dedication prayer from Marisela’s mom. The space was adorned in balloon garlands and florals – and to all my future brides now wondering if this is something they should consider for their reception decor, YES. The answer is 1000x yes. On top of it all, as a way of thanking their family and friends for joining them, and as a way of sharing their favorite passtime and one of their passions, Marisela and Quan performed a salsa dance that they choreographed together for their wedding day before ending the night with a sparkler exit. Congratulations Marisela and Quan, this has been a year full of celebrations for you both and I wish you endless happiness as you start this next leg of your journey together!
