I gave myself permission this year to let go of some parts of this job in order to be more present with my family and one of those things was blogging. I’ve always loved this part of the job, but the truth is, sometimes it slows down my workflow. What this really means is that my blog now looks like I’m solely a wedding photographer instead of a family photographer, too, when the truth is I’m more like 60/40 families, maybe even more so. My family sessions this year have taken a back burner on the blog and a lot of families this season have opted out of having their images shared or featured, but I promise you I’m still here and I’m still photographing families.
This Zionsville family session, though, is one I couldn’t skip on blogging. I’ve been photographing these four for years now, and I often like to take a trip down memory lane and browse my blog for the older sessions of families I’ve seen grow over the years. Not to mention, I want photos like this with my own boys when they’re older and I want to remember that. As these boys grow, I love to look back and see where we started. Awww, look. Did you look? That feels like not so long ago, but based on the boys’ heights, it obviously was. Chandra and I got a good laugh out of this session’s weather, too, as we’ve literally had it all. If you took a peek at that blog post, you know. We’ve had wind, rain, snow, sun, hot, cold… basically everything we can photograph in, we’ve had it. Chandra, I think in our next session we need to recreate that very last image on the post. Jim can still hold one of the kids on his back, right? Or maybe the kids need to hold you guys on their backs. Haha! Thanks for having me back for another year!
