There are two things that immediately pop to mind as I sit down to blog this session. The most important of all is that this morning, my two year old son was sitting on the chair next to me while I typed out some emails. In the background, he could see Brooke and Cam’s summertime Newfields engagement session images. He smiled really big, looked at me, pointed at Brooke and Cam and exclaimed, “Mama, they’re hugging!”. And my heart immediately burst into confetti and showered our whole house in happiness. If only we could all feel the joy a toddler feels at the simplest pleasures in life.
The second thing that pops into my mind is the overwhelming satisfaction I have after every session I shoot Newfields. It never fails to disappoint – no matter the season, the weather, the temperatures, or the lighting. Each and every Newfields session I shoot just about knocks my socks off. So when Brooke and Cam’s session was delayed (thanks, 2020) and they suggested Newfields for our reschedule location, I was overjoyed. Only later did I learn that they’ve never actually been there, and exploring every nook and cranny we could fit in was almost as exciting as my son’s joy at seeing their photos this morning. They were thrilled at every new part of the grounds we discovered and I think they’re going to be over the moon with how their session captures it all for them.
With their wedding just around the corner in a couple of months, I’m so excited to have finally gotten to shoot this session for them, and am even more excited to celebrate them so soon. It’s always a treat when I get to see couples so close together – whether it be for engagement sessions and weddings, or multiple sessions – it makes our time together more fun as we can pick right up where we recently left off. Brooke and Cam, I’ll see you all soon! Thanks for a wonderful evening at Newfields!
