It’s amazing how quickly things change once Mother Nature decides it’s time. It was just over a week ago that I was at the park for this spring family session and in that short time, the trees went from being bare and winter-y to being full of life and green. I love shooting in nature no matter the time of year, the weather, or the location, but there are some spots that only work for a very short period of time each year and this family got the best of one of those spots.
I shared this image on my Facebook page just yesterday and I have to admit, I wouldn’t have normally taken clients down this path, but with Nevaeh leading the way, with Brooke and Kyla and I in tow, we ventured onto our next location in a more roundabout way than I would normally go. Of course, I’m familiar with all of the surrounding paths, but this isn’t a spot I would normally head over to for a session. As we headed through the woods, the surroundings took my breath away. It didn’t matter that the trees weren’t grown in yet – in fact, this spot really only worked because they weren’t. The way the light was just streaming through, how the path was snaking through the woods, the dirt trail, the grasses just beginning to turn green… it all just felt so magical. It was something out of a storybook, as Kyla twirled Nevaeh around on the path and Brooke and Kyla shared a few private moments together.
It’s pretty common for sessions with me to turn into more of an evening in the park or a hike in the woods. I’m a nature lover and my clients are always down for trekking through weeds (or thorns)… even in a skirt!. This session was just that, as we ventured from spot to spot, finding the best little nooks and crannies that Mother Nature was offering us. I like to think of a session with me as more of an adventure and always adore when clients are up for the same. To this family, I hope you are up for a LOT of images, because there are just too many to narrow down! Thank you for indulging my outdoorsy spirit, for being up for anything, and for laughing through it all!
