When Elizabeth and I met for her initial consultation she mentioned that she wanted to get her engagement photos done in January so she could use the images for her save the dates. She was hoping for a snowy engagement session in Indianapolis, yet as she talked, I could hear disappointment in her voice. As we chatted more, I learned that we have a lot of common interests – specifically all things green and alive (and warm). Truth be told, I didn’t want to shoot a full engagement session in our frigid midwestern winter weather, either. January tends to be bitter cold here in Indiana, and unless you’ve ventured out to a tree farm, things are pretty flat and grey this time of year.
So when I mentioned the idea of splitting her engagement session into a wintery-mini and saving the rest of her session for the spring, she and I both got excited. I mean, what’s more romantic than snuggling with your favorite out in the snow and then frolicking with them in the lush green fields?! NOTHING.
Lucky for us, we actually had some snow. The week before, I ventured out to check things out and everything had melted off, leaving us a muddy, mucky, brown-grey mess. We kept our fingers crossed and the snow moved in over the weekend, coating everything with a gorgeous, fresh layer of snow… and then the sun even peeked out for us. HOW did we get so lucky?!
Elizabeth and Andrew, thank you for braving the cold with me! I cannot wait to see you all again in the spring for round two!!
