When Josh and Amanda first mentioned their plans for their Plymouth Orchards engagement session, I have to admit my heart flipped a little. Cider mills in the fall are an age-old Michigan tradition, and one that I’ve missed since moving out of state. Lucky for me, I’m local enough now to take advantage when fall rolls around, and indulge myself in corn mazes, fresh-picked apples, and all the fall tasty treats…. yuuummmmm. But the icing on the cake was when these two treated me to hot cider and donuts as we wrapped up our session. If you didn’t know a way to my heart before, you do now. 😉
Amanda and Josh are getting married next April at the Ford Piquette Plant in Detroit, Michigan, and through their planner, Jenn House Design, became connected with me. Jenn and I have worked together a couple of times over the last few years and I’ve enjoyed every experience with her and her team. Getting to know these two at their engagement session was really a bonding experience. We started out by huddling together under tarps and blankets as a heavy mist came out of nowhere just as we arrived to our first location (after hiking across the orchard). We laughed it out while checking the radar and Josh made a dash for the car. As he came pulling up to Amanda and I, the mist let up, the clouds parted, and the sun came out. Thanks, Michigan.
We made it through the rest of their session with some of my favorite crazy weather – bright sunlight, dark clouds, whipping winds… we had it all, and it made my evening. Fall is my favorite season for so many reasons, but as a wedding photographer, fall means getting to meet and work with so many of my next year’s wedding clients. If their weddings are anything like their engagement sessions, next year’s weddings are going to be a hoot. Bring it on, 2018!
