Right now I’m feeling as giddy inside as a kid on Christmas morning. Maybe it’s because at-home and in-home photography sessions speak to my heart, maybe it’s because this is my first of several Christmas-y posts and sessions, or maybe (and most likely) it’s because publishing this blog post means that the last gallery in my cue line of sessions to edit is officially uploading and once this is complete, I’m officially have nothing on my roster to edit for the first time since early-August. … and until tomorrow afternoon when I shoot another holiday-themed session. 😉 Who knew a photographer’s busy season went so long!? I did! And I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Nicole reached out to me a few months ago to schedule an extended family (FAVORITE) lifestyle session (DREAM.COME.TRUE). I cannot wait to do one of these with my own family some day. The idea of dressing up in holiday attire and decorating the yard, setting up the tree, or even reading Christmas stories and decorating sugar cookies is exactly what Christmas has always been about in my family, so why shouldn’t it look like that in your photos!? Especially with little ones – it makes it a lot easier for them to get involved since these sessions are activity based and in an environment they’re completely comfortable in… your home! Or in this case, at Grandma’s house!
Three families, three generations, and three activities (tree decorating, story time, and COOKIES!) what more for this girl (or these kiddos!!) ask for!? And this red hair… just steal my heart now. So much sweetness throughout this session, and a gallery chalk full of savory memories that will mean so much on so many different levels as all of these folks age and grow. <3
Schumacher family, let’s make this an annual tradition! It was such a pleasure meeting you all and documenting this special season for your family!
Can somebody please remind me to plant a spruce or fir tree in my yard in the spring? Between this session and this one from last December, I KNOW I need one for outdoor decorating!
Lucky for these two, they live nice and close to one another. They’re both outgoing, charismatic, silly-as-can-be little hams who can’t hold in their giggles at one another for more than a few short seconds. This just perfectly sums up their relationship. <3
Their gallery includes several versions of this shot but this one is my favorite of the bunch. Especially that elbow move.
Shameless cookie bribing. 😉
