I met this family back in May for Leighton’s six month milestone session, and since Alix had booked both sessions at the same time, have been looking forward to this one ever since. Alix and BJ are so easy-going and personable, Leighton is a ham, and Alix is a woman with the vision. Remember the lemon shots? All Alix’s idea.

So when Alix contacted me with this idea for Leighton’s one year photos, I nearly yelped out loud. Or maybe I did. 😉  The icing on the cake, though, was when Alix texted me some shots of the nursery. Hellooooooo dreamy nursery. Alix, you’ve got an eye for all things visual!

Alix and BJ blew up all the balloons and gave Leighton a chance to practice and play in advance of my arrival. That worked out amazingly, because by the time I started shooting, Leighton was on cloud nine surrounded by balloons and attention. We followed up this mini-party with a cake smash (literally… she smashed it with her feet), a quick sink bath (my fav!), and then headed outdoors for their fall family session.

It’s always such a sweet privilege to be able to see families grow over the years, but when you get to see them grow within 6 months, and the grow so quickly, it’s even more special. To the Thompson family, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this first year with you. You have a beautiful, fun family, and I am so excited for you all to celebrate Leighton this coming weekend!
