There’s nothing better about this business than being able to see clients grow and change over the years. Sometimes that means being able to see kids grow up year after year, and sometimes that means seeing couples get married and start a family. In any case, I look forward to the times I get to see clients back again for celebrations and milestones. For this family, it all started with their engagement session with the pups. I knew Torey and Kyle as a couple, first, but had a chance to meet Thunder and Bodie right from the start. As we come up on their wedding anniversary later this month, they’ll be celebrating with a sweet new family member in tow this year. Caroline made her arrival just a few weeks ago and parenthood looks good on these two as they’re settling into their new life as a family of three (plus the pups!).
Caroline was wide eyed for most of our newborn session at home, taking in all of the sights and sounds surrounding her. She was a quiet observer throughout the majority of our time with Kyle soothing her to sleep just in time for some shots with the pups. I’d been to their house once before for Torey’s getting ready photos on their wedding day, but things look a little different now with the gorgeous nursery they put together. I always love seeing the rocking chair that parents have picked out for the nursery. It’s a chair that likely took a while to decide on, somewhere they’ll spend many, many hours over the next few years – feeding and rocking, reading and snuggling. It’s a chair that hasn’t been broken in just yet, or maybe not even used by the time we shoot our session together. It’s a chair that’s waiting to have its story written and told, a chair that will hold many secrets and memories over the years. So when given the chance, I will always spend some time documenting some of those first rocks and snuggles. We got a chance to do so right at the end of this session and they’re some of my favorite shots from our time together (though you’ll only see one here!).
Congratulations, Mates family, on your newest addition. She is absolutely perfect and I’m so excited for your biggest adventure that’s only just begun!
