So many of my clients are repeat clients with growing families and I’m so, so glad I added the newborn lifestyle session to my list of services. Lifestyle photography is my jam (I know, I know… you already know this because I say it all.the.TIME., but hey…. it is) and when you add a tiny little human into the mix, my heart grows even fonder. I’m from the generation of 4×6 glossy photos from 35mm cameras, stuffed into albums that are busting at the seams and documenting every turning point in our lives – haircuts, favorite foods, fall leaves, swimming in the pool, building a treehouse, my childhood home, giant sidewalk chalk murals, you name it, it’s in there. Every year when home for the holidays, we pull out the albums and reminisce over moments, places, people, things… the tiny details we see in each of these photos.

I love on-location sessions, too, but there’s not quite anything that speaks to my soul like lifestyle photography. To be invited to someone’s home to capture them in their everyday moments is such an intimate invitation and a privilege to be a part of. These are the homes that your kids will remember and look back upon, and to have that in photos for them is truly a gift. As a home owner, I know there are always things we want to work on or change in our homes – we need to paint a room, update something, redecorate, but your home, exactly as it is right now, is perfect. It is a chapter in the story. These are the things you will want to remember, that your kids will want to see. I promise.

So today, I bring a newborn lifestyle session for some of the sweetest people I know. Jenny is the owner of Vivian Elle Invitations (brides, check her out!) and Luke is a middle school teacher and a guitar teacher. They both have hearts of gold and you may remember this adorable family from our Saugatuck session last year. Last month they welcomed their newest member, Lila, and became a family of four. On my recent trip to Michigan, I got to spend some time with them and my heart melted as Luke serenaded his girls (all three of them!) and Jenny loved on her daughters. They were both glowing and so comfortable as a family of four and I couldn’t be more thrilled for the both of them.
