I’ve been photographing this family now for several years, and being with them through each of their milestones together, first as a couple and then as a family, has just filled my heart to the brim. This session felt extra special, because this was our first (of hopefully many) sessions at their new home. Sarah and I had connected in advance of our sunrise session to confirm locations and she had expressed concern about their lot still being in the construction phase of development… in other words, it was mostly mud. Knowing their new home sat on the family homestead, I asked her to send me a photo of the land around the same time as our session was scheduled for so we could make the final call. The photo she sent me was the most magical, majestic sunrise landscape I’d seen in a while and our Mooresville maternity session plans suddenly came to life. And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint.

Sarah and Cordon have been the absolute sweetest clients over the years, but this one just takes the cake for me. From their anniversary session, to their maternity session, and then to Emmett’s newborn session, many of their own milestones have closely aligned with those of my own family and I’ve felt a strong connection to them throughout it all. But this one, with baby Hattie coming along soon and Emmett about to turn two, speaks to me louder than the rest.

It’s this stage of toddlerhood, that is familiar to me in my own home, but that I’ve always loved in kids. Their sense of humor, adventure, willingness to take risks and explore and try new things – it’s so invigorating and full of life. It fuels me. With his boots on, Emmett happily ventured through fields of grasses sometimes up as high as his waist, grinning and giggling through it all.

I cannot wait to see you all become a family of four in just a few short weeks. Thank you for having me along on this journey for all of these years. It’s been an absolute pleasure and I’m so excited for this next stage of life for you all.
