Earlier this month I had the opportunity to travel to Chicago to meet one of my 2019 couples for their Milton Lee Olive Park engagement session. Steph and Wes live nearby in downtown Chicago and wanted to have their photos shot close to home. They’ll get the best of both worlds within the next year as they have the Chicago skyline in these images and will have the Indy skyline in their wedding portraits when they tie the knot at Mavris next June.

Steph and I had only spoken over the phone prior to meeting just outside of Navy Pier on what turned out to be a blustery and very chilly June evening. As cliché as it may be, the windy city certainly lived up to it’s name that evening and I welcomed the abrupt change in temperatures from Indy’s sweltering heat.

As the icing on the cake, these two brought along their adorable new family member, Jerry. Jerry is a French Bulldog puppy and while at the park he ran into a full grown Frenchie with the same coloring and markings as him. It was just too cute to see him checking out this larger, mirrored image of himself. I love when couples and families include their pets in their sessions… especially when their dogs! Jerry popped in and out of our shots as my husband, Brad, romped around in the grass with him in between moments. At one point we looked over and saw them wrapped together in a quilt trying to keep warm as we shot out over the water. It was just too cute!
