I’ve known Lacey and Andrew for a long time now, and have been photographing them as a family of three with Connor for several years. So when our originally scheduled spring session (thanks, COVID) turned into a fall gender reveal, I was even more excited than normal to make the trip up to Michigan. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I know this has been a tough year in so many ways, but I’ve been wearing my silver-lining goggles for most of it and that seems to be all I can see.
Lacey and Andrew booked this year’s session as an extended family session with his side of the family. I always love extended family sessions (other photographers may call me crazy, but I just love seeing families of all ages and generations get into the frame together. It’s a trade of an evening for a lifetime (and then some) of memories frozen into an image. Even though I went to school with Andrew, I didn’t know his sisters during my time there, so it was fun to meet the people I’ve heard him and Lacey talk about over the years. And, of course, I always love seeing grandparents as a part of my family sessions. Having a little one of my own who’s not too much younger than Connor, it’s even more special to watch the interactions and relationships these distant generations have with one another.
We started off our Mill Pond Park Family Session with a quick gender reveal for Connor (he got what he was hoping for!) and then spent the rest of the evening celebrating the whole family. Michigan weather has cooled down a lot more quickly than Indiana weather has, so we had the most wonderfully comfortable evening (at the time of this session it was still in the 90s in Indy!) and I soaked up every bit of it. I’m so excited to see Connor as a big brother next time I see this crew and had a great time meeting everyone. Thanks for having me, Kunz family!
