It’s been a year since I was up in Chicago for Steph and Wes’ engagement session. I was already excited to be working with them as they planned their Mavris wedding here in Indianapolis, but after meeting them was even more pumped. It was our first time meeting since we live a distance away from one another, but we clicked easily as both of them are so easy to get along with. Mavris is one of my favorite Indy venues to shoot, and I get to shoot it often, and this wedding was one for the books. The florals were stunning, the weather was spot on, and The Sly Band knocked the reception out of the park.
I remember circling the dance floor a couple of times right after things opened up and wondered how the heck I was going to get in there. The floor was packed and everyone was facing the band concert-style, with no way for me to capture anything but people’s backs. But dance floor grooves are my jam, and I’ve had my cameras and flashes knocked into my face before, so I tightened my straps and wiggled my way into the crowd… and it was so worth it.
My favorite moments from the day? Steph reading Wes’ letter to her after getting dressed. Wes’ reaction to Steph during their first look. Steph’s grand entrance down the stairs with her Dad. The moment right after their first kiss. Bubbles. Parent dances, complete with dabbing. Sunset with the train. And not pictured here, Wes waving at the camera throughout the evening.
