As a wedding photographer, you don’t truly have a ‘place of work’ and in most cases, you don’t really have coworkers, either. My workplace changes regularly, sometimes with each wedding or session I shoot, and my coworkers are people I see occasionally. I’ve always felt, though, like Mavris was my home base. I’ve shot so many weddings there over the last 9+ years we’ve been here in Indianapolis, that’s it’s become what feels most like my workplace, and while the staff has changed over the years, each new crew has always been warm and welcoming and friendly and it truly feels like we’re a team when I shoot there.
And while I didn’t shoot this Mavris Event Center wedding (thanks Jaclyn!) I felt completely confident in sending my own team to shoot in my place because of all of those details. Jaclyn and I have shot many a wedding there together over the years, and she captured Brittany and Mike’s wedding day just as I imagined it would be. It was such a treat for the two of us to collectively shoot their engagement session in downtown Indianapolis, knowing I would be on leave for their wedding day, and while I was sad to miss their celebrations, Jaclyn captured it just as I would have, right down to chasing trains during portraits.
