It’s hard to believe it’s already been 5 months since I shot my last wedding. I let all of my pages and accounts go pretty quiet over the winter as I took some time off to spend time with family over the holidays before welcoming our newest family member in early February. I made a point to take intentional maternity leave this time around (a lesson hard-learned from my first born who came late, giving me a nearly non-existent maternity leave) and have soaked up every second of it. It went by quickly, yet I felt very ready to return to work and get my creative juices flowing again.
Of course, the kickoff to my season was a Mavris Arts & Event Center wedding, one of my absolute favorite Indy venues, and the one I frequent the most. It felt a lot like returning to work might feel if I worked somewhere consistent and with the same people – it was familiar and friendly and basically just about everything you could want with returning to work after snuggling a baby (and a toddler!) for a few months straight.
Emma and Sean had an absolutely perfect spring day for the celebrations – something that’s not always guaranteed in the midwest as proven by the giant snowstorm we had the week before! With every wedding I shoot, there’s always some kind of icing-on-the-cake that just tops it off for me, but with this one, it’s hard to narrow down my favorites. From having their fur baby Meeko be a part of their celebrations, to the most magical bubble exit in the garden at sunset (if you look at nothing else here SCROLL TO THESE), to the perfectly timed rooftop-and-train photo at sunset. And by perfectly timed, I mean it was me shouting about a train coming and yelling at Emma and Sean to just GET AGAINST THE WALL while madly trying to frame the perfect shot. But hey, it worked! See?
Emma and Sean, thank you for having me along to document your celebrations. It’s been wonderful getting to know you both over the last year and welcoming you to this wonderful city. Congratulations, once again!
