You know those types of people with contagious personalities? The ones you want to always be around because when they laugh it’s like they’re sparkling on the outside and your insides automatically feel warm and fuzzy? Well, Mallory has one of those personalities and I’ve been sitting here grinning as I edit her wedding because even through photos her joy is still contagious.
Mallory and Brad were married at Holy Name Catholic Church in Beechgrove, Indiana, and had their reception in the church gym. When I first met with Mallory during her search for an Indianapolis wedding photographer, she had shared that after some changes with the venue they had originally booked, they found themselves looking for another place to get married, pushing their wedding date out. These two lovebirds took it all with grace and decided that what was most important to them was their marriage and celebration, and commitment to one another. So they took to their roots, … well, Mallory’s roots, anyway.
You see, Mallory grew up in Beech Grove, a small town on the southeast side of Indianapolis. She grew up in a home that her parents built with their own hands, next door to the house her dad grew up in and the one his parents still live in today. So when Mallory told me that Brad would be getting ready here and they’d be celebrating with a little pre-reception cocktail hour, I immediately started dreaming up shots. It got even better when we adjusted the timeline so I could shoot her details at the house before joining her and the girls at the salon. Her dad even put up a new hook on the porch, perfectly placed for her gown. There’s just something about small towns that has always drawn me in, so when we stopped by the dry cleaner (you’ll see!) on our way to the reception for a quick photo, I just smiled at the comfort of it all. Turns out, it’s owned by the father of the bride’s best friend. This is just one of those weddings that every bit of the day had sentiment and meaning wrapped up in it. In other words, my favorite kind of wedding. Plus, the father-daughter dance… 😭.
So happy Thursday and scroll slowly! You won’t want to miss any of this! To Mallory and Brad, I am so grateful that our paths crossed. Your wedding was the perfect grand finale to this wedding season and I wish you endless years of adventures together. Congratulations again!
