You might remember these two (now three!) from this maternity session from a couple of months ago. When Ashleigh chose a date for her lifestyle newborn session, she picked the date spot-on. Thaxton, named after Mitch’s mother’s maiden name (how perfect is that!?) arrived a few days early, and we had scheduled a few days after Ashleigh’s scheduled due date. This put us at exactly 7 days new for his milestone session to welcome him to the world.
I showed up to their Noblesville home and spent a few minutes outside in my car with the windows down appreciating the quietness of their neighborhood. It’s tucked away in a perfect little nook of nature and greenery. Ashleigh answered the door and welcomed me in and the calmness of the outdoors easily carried over inside. Ashleigh and Mitch were both so at ease and relaxed – it’s like they already had this new parenting thing figured out after being home for only a handful of days. They’d already worked out a nighttime schedule and Thaxton was as peaceful as can be, sleeping through the first two-thirds of his session.
I always love shooting in client’s homes because the space you live in is exactly perfect at this moment in time. Whether it’s a new home or old home, a first home or third home, these are the places that deserve to be preserved in our memories and moments just as much as the people and events. The sweet nursery, the pack-n-play tucked into the corner of their room as they adjust to their new lifestyle, it’s these bits and pieces that paint the full picture of life in this moment.
