How many sessions can be my favorite? Is there a limit? I’ve always had a love of lifestyle sessions, and if I were to have to choose only one style of session to photograph forever and always, this would be it, but this lifestyle newborn session takes the cake for me. I think people are used to outdoor family sessions, and I don’t blame them. It’s what I book every year for my own family, too. But ok top of that, we also book a lifestyle session and this is where it’s at. People, if you’ve never had an at-home session with your family, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one. Especially if you have littles. There’s nothing they love more than showing off their rooms and there’s nothing easier on parents than having everything you need and are comfortable with at your fingertips. Winter is a GREAT time for these indoor sessions, too… just sayin’.
Laura booked this session a few months ago in anticipation of baby boy number three. We hit it off immediately and emailed back and forth about personal events and experiences leading up to our session and walking into their home on the day-of had me all kinds of excited. Did you ever have a pen pal in elementary school … and then get to meet them? It felt like that. Laura and Devin were welcoming beyond belief, offering me quiche and custom-made coffee drinks with fresh whipped cream. Did I mention they have a newborn? Yeah. They’re obviously killing it in the parenting game.
With a full length lifestyle session, I was able to spend the whole morning with them, documenting their regular routine, family time, and even some more ‘staged’ shots. Their home is gorgeous and they’ve done all of the renovations themselves. The boys attend a Montessori school and they have woven some of the philosophies into their home life, as well. Let me tell you – seeing them pick out and make their own tea in a fancy-schmancy espresso machine had me standing there with my jaw on the floor. The boys are sweeter than can be, taking great care with their new brother, and the relationship this family has together is one to aspire to.
To the Hintze family, thank you for having me! I could not have enjoyed our time together any more than I did. Enjoy the holidays and this time together with your newest family member!
