I introduced you to The McMurts last year after their engagement shoot. I met Taylor when she was still in high school…and I was her art teacher. The story of how Taylor met Brad is even better, so let’s start there. To keep it short (and it’s already super sweet) Brad moved to town when they were younger and was immediately the smart kid in class, to which, as Taylor tells it, she immediately claimed him to be her partner. Little did she know, it would be for life.

Taylor and Brad became high school sweethearts, Taylor became my student, they both graduated, and became parents just after graduation. They got engaged almost two years ago and tied the knot this May, making their sweet little family whole again after Brad spent four years away at school while Taylor and Lily traveled back and forth. Lily made the most precious flower girl and made no shortage of pirate faces throughout the day, either. For those, though, you’ll have to check the Facebook page.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Taylor as a student in high school – in my regular classes and as an independent study – it was always a riot having her as an honorary team member at volleyball practice or a softball game, and it’s been the icing on the cake to be able to call her a friend now, four years later as she’s starting the next chapter of her life.

I will always miss certain things about being a teacher, whether in the classroom or in an alternative environment, but it’s connections like these that will last with me for a lifetime. Congratulations to you both (and Lily!)… you ALL deserve nothing but the absolute best in life. To a lifetime of adventures. Cheers.
