When Adrienne and I first connected about schedule a family session is was way back in November of last year. My calendar books pretty far out for October and November, so we squeezed a date into the calendar for December and held our breath (and crossed our fingers) for some decently mild weather that would be comfortable to get their crew outdoors for a family session before the end of the year. With this hot-and-cold (literally) winter we’ve been having, we ended up having to reschedule… and then again… and then again. We pushed back several times as the weather swung from the 20’s to the 60’s each week and hoped that we’d land on one of those 60-degree days instead of the latter. When we finally met last Saturday, we ended up with a sunny afternoon in the low 30’s with temps dropping quickly. Come on, Mother Nature, make up your mind! 😉
I’m a firm believer in ‘everything happens for a reason’ and so when we decided to shoot a hybrid lifestyle/family shoot starting out in their new home and then moving outside to a nearby park, I’m certain this is the reason we were delayed. I believe we were meant to shoot in their new home. We even snuck in a shot with the pets (individually… they’re both quite illusive!) in this sweet home. I’m always a sucker for lifestyle sessions, even if partial ones, because I think what’s in the background of a photo is just as important as the people in it. To have this as their new home that they’re slowly catering to their taste is the perfect storyline to accompany their shots. Every home I have ever lived in has had it’s own sentiment and significance to that part of my life, and I imagine I’m not the only one who feels this way. This family will now be able to look back on these photos not only as a snapshot of who they were at that point in time, but of where they were, too. I love looking back at childhood photos with our old house in the background (or even our own family photos from two years ago when we just bought our first house!) and know how precious these memories are.
Back to my ‘everything happens for a reason’ motto, we also get to shoot again together later next month! You see, when we tried to venture outdoors for the latter half of our session, the temps had dropped and the littlest members of our crew were none too happy with us – even being at the park! We will wrap up our outdoor shots next month when the temperatures are warmer and schedules are slightly less hectic. Can’t wait to see you all again then!
Let’s start this out by just appreciating how all three of these lucky ducks were blessed with their Momma’s hair genes. Insert allll the heart eyes.
Did everyone get a chance to see this?! Well if you didn’t, click that really quick. Then check this out. In case you were wondering if it’s possible to truly be that happy… AND be that happy on the reg, here’s your proof. <3
And yep! It runs in the family. BEST.HAPPY.FACES….EEEVVVVEEEERRRRRR.
Momma and her first baby. <3 Being from a family with two generations of kids myself (13 years between my oldest and youngest siblings!), I felt connected to Isaac even before meeting him. Then I learned about his love for art and all things artistic, as well as his college plans for next year and this little art teacher’s heart just burst wide open! (Did you know I’m a high school art teacher, too!?)
This. Just every.little.thing about this. Adrienne, this is my favorite. You’re just perfect in this! And I adore the candid nature of everyone else… it all centers around you. Just as it probably does in real life! 😉 But really… August’s face!
These. I can only guess what these mean to them, but I have a set of these with my own momma and I will forever hold them dear. <3
It was here that we really, truly lost our littlest, although he was not having it from the moment we walked out of the house. We wrapped up just a few shots after this, but not before …..
THIS!! Yes, yes, YES. Perfect way to end this session. See you all next month!
