Andrea and Mike’s wedding wrapped up my 2016 Indianapolis photographer wedding season and it was the most wonderfully bittersweet afternoon for me. On the one hand, I was so excited for the two of them (and feel spoiled that I’ll get to see them again sometime next year since they chose an anniversary session with their wedding package!), and on the other hand, I was so, so sad that I wouldn’t be spending my weekends watching couples celebrate one of the happiest, most loving and delicate days of their lives together. Not until next year, that is.
When I met with Andrea earlier this year, she gushed to me about how they were going for a Downton Abbey feel with their wedding, and had found the perfect venue for their small celebration… the Morris-Butler House. When I walked in and started chatting with Kelly, the manager, I learned that they have just started hosting events and weddings at the recently converted museum. I always feel so privileged when I’m one of the first to photography somewhere. I can’t wait to share some of these shots with them to use to inspire their future couples!
The house has such unique charm – so many original details, right down to the furnishings and even the lamps! I tried to move one for a shot and it must have weighed 30+ pounds! Good thing I’ve been working out. 😉 Andrea and Mike wanted a go-with-the-flow approach to their wedding timeline and the events of the day, so everything felt very comfortable and personalized throughout the day. There were lots of sentimental tears shed throughout the day as this family and their guests showered them with love throughout festivities.
Congratulations to these two and wishes of many happy years yet to come.
One of my favorites from the day. There were very few specifics Andrea and Mike requested for the day, and this was one of them. In my head, when Andrea requested a shot of her helping Kenzie with her makeup, this is exactly what I had envisioned.
This was the other special request Andrea and Mike made for their day. All of the guests, out front of the Morris-Butler House, all in one picture. Check! Love the way this turned out!
Back there in the background? That’s a small collection of some important people watching them legally become married. <3
They opted out of the traditional wedding cake and instead ordered three cakes from the Cake Bake Shop in Broad Ripple. Yes, please.
I don’t often share black-and-whites in my blog posts, but these three strung together just speak to me. This needs to be framed.
Just the beginning…
A shout out to few of the contributing vendors… and kudos to the rest I don’t have info for!
