I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again… I am so, so thankful to be living back here in the midwest. Being an Indianapolis photographer gives me the freedom to zip up to Michigan several times a year to photograph some of my favorite people. When we were living in Colorado just a few years ago, I had made a promise to myself that I was going to start committing to flying out here to make this happen. Turns out, driving it is much easier… especially now that I’m so close! 😉

These two have been on the blog several times before and there just aren’t enough ‘characters’ in the world wide web to do them justice. They’re some of the best people I know. You know that phrase about people with ‘hearts of gold’? Well, it just doesn’t get anymore golden than this.

They recently got a puppy (in the last year) and were overdue for some new family portraits to adorn the walls of their gorgeous home. So we headed out to Maybury State Park (before hitting up Dominick’s for some delicious refreshments) with my husband in tow to play dog whisperer in between shots. Every single one of these shots just makes me grin. Talk about a couple who is easy to photograph – when two people are so comfortable, goofy, and lovey with one another things a breeze for me!

So happy to get these over to you guys and cannot wait to see them up in your home!

As we pulled back onto their street to drop the pup off before heading out for the evening, the light popped out in the most perfect way. At the end of the street it an undeveloped area that leads back into the wetlands and with a promise of ‘two more shots’ they headed down the block with me. Turns out these are my favorite shots of the whole session. Next time we don’t even need to head to the park… we’ll just stay on the street! Such a sweet photo to have as the years pass and their lives change. They will forever remember this area as their first home. <3
