This little family was the kick-off to my fall season – or at least my fall-foliage season. 😉 I’d been looking forward to this session for a while since I felt like I clicked with Kara over email. Maybe it’s because we’re both from Michigan that I felt connected, but when she waved wildly at me as I drove up to meet them, I knew we were a good match. We greeted each other with excited hellos and little Kylie immediately reached out her arms for me to hold her like I was an old family friend. Two year olds are just the best!
We started this session a bit early (that’s what can happen when you show up early and I live next door to the location!) and managed to get 3 completely different looks in throughout our session and I am LOVING the variation. The midwest in the fall is gorgeous – I already knew this having spent time growing up out this way, but I’d been gone for a long time and almost forgot what it was like… and this is only the beginning!
It’s been a minute since this Indianapolis photographer had a chance to shoot at sunset and actually shoot with the sun. Talk about a lot of rained out sessions this year! Man have I missed that golden glow – and then pair it with the awesome glow of the just-starting-to-turn leaves…. my heart!! So with my quick don’t-look-at-the-camera we were off to frolic in the leaves, twirl, spin, jump, hide, and chase life, hug boomer, snuggle in the long grasses, and lastly play in the water. I know with little ones who are energetic and excited it sometimes feels like there isn’t anything I could even be photographing, but those are the moments I LIVE for… and that is what you see below. It’s everything that happens in between the ‘set-ups’ that really illustrates and captures a family, their emotion, their relationship, and ultimately…. them.
Bring it on fall. So good to have you here again. <3
Oh, that little face. This one kills me. <3
My favorite!! It’s photos like these that should be blown up on the walls!
Annnndddd, of course I had to get these two in front of the camera for some shots of their own. All I can say is HOLY SMOKES!! 😉
The icing on the cake to this whole session is that she makes this gesture with her hands (you know… the ‘what’ hands with the shrug) that I noticed in the session and thought was adorable. As we were walking out of the woods at the end of our session, Mom mentioned how much she also loves it. Little did I know I caught one of these little hand movements here. Toddlers are just the best. <3
