Indianapolis Newborn Photographer | A Newborn Lifestyle Session

This session was the grand finale to my 2016 year. I was so, so fortunate to see this family three times total throughout 2016, first for a spring lifestyle and family session, then in the fall for a milestone maternity session, and again, the day after Christmas for this milestone newborn session. Let me back up a moment by saying that making these milestone sessions available to my clients this year was one of my favorite things about this business year. Not only do I get to see these families a few times throughout the year, now, but I also get to ensure they are able to capture every special moment of this journey from expecting, to announcing, to arrival, and all of the big moments that happen within that first year. It just fills my heart.

I feel like I had a front row seat to baby Felix’s arrival. I had a chance to get to know him a bit along the way before he arrived early-December. I met the family at their home the morning after Christmas for a sweet little in-home newborn lifestyle session… the only kind of newborn session I offer. We all know how lifestyle and documentary photography speaks to me, but even more so when it’s these first moments of welcoming a new family member. These are the times to remember – the nursery and changing table, the sweet connection between a mother and a baby breastfeeding, admiring, snuggling, and loving on a new sibling on a quiet, snowy, winter morning. My heart is truly swelling as I write this. It all just moves me.

And to top it all off, being able to see Milo as a new big brother and learning what this means to him and Felix was just the icing on the cake.
