I’m a big fan of lifestyle photography. I always have been. I think it’s my love of storytelling. Photography allows us to tell a story through pictures, and what’s better than a story that really hits home… or is at home? I think a family’s home says so much about them, about this moment in their life, about this part of their journey. For some families, their lifestyle sessions take place in a temporary home, someplace they haven’t, and won’t, live for very long. Furnishings are borrowed or adopted from friends and family, personal belongings are in storage, and the families are in transition. For other families, their sessions take place in their forever homes that were custom built just for them, down to the very last detail. Both are equally as important and the memories just as valuable. These images tell the story of your life, as it is now in this very moment, and the adventures that are happening all around you. This, and everything in between, are exactly what it’s all about.

This is my (I-lost-count) time working with this family and they’ve easily become favorites to work with over the years. Quincy radiates joy, Tyler absolutely adores his family, Hazel is a ball of energy and full of surprises, and now sweet Cooke has rounded out the bunch. And Blaize! He only gets to make an appearance in their lifestyle sessions, but he’s just as much a part of the family as the rest. These five just moved into a new home just in time for their lifestyle newborn photos and are settling in they welcome their newest member to the crew. Hazel came out of her shell more during this session than I’ve seen her before, and excited to show and tell me about all of her favorite things to do around the new house – jumping on the bed included. 😉

Between Tyler’s woodwork and Quincy’s styling, their home is a dream to shoot and I’m pretty much convinced I need to bring Quincy on as my stylist – for work, for personal, basically for all parts of my life. There’s just nothing better than being wholeheartedly welcomed into someone’s home and then feeling so at home and cozy within it. To this family, thank you for inviting me to document these milestones for your family. Each session becomes my new favorite and I look forward to seeing you all again next month!
