Last month I took a quick trip up to Michigan for a couple of spring sessions and while I was there, I got a chance to visit one of my longest Michigan-friends and her new little. Being an Indianapolis lifestyle photographer, it’s always a bit tricky to schedule friend time when I’m in town for sessions, so as soon as this trip was planned, I immediately reached out and coordinated a visit. There was no way I was missing out on this opportunity.
In high school and college, Amanda and I lived anywhere from 8 minutes to 4 feet apart, but now that we’re older there’s a bit more distance between our home bases, so scheduling a visit can be a bit complicated. Throw in a new work schedule and a missing vehicle (long story) and it starts to get a little crazy! Lucky for us, things worked out and I was finally able to get out to see her and meet this adorable little guy.
If we’re friends in real life (you all know what I mean) then you know my camera is never too far and I’m always trying to get in your face with my lens. Either people love to humor me, or they actually love the end result (I’m pushing for the latter), but either way I’m extraordinarily grateful for these memories. Photos like these mean just as much to me as they do to the people in them. Just as we had pictures of each other and the two of us together through our younger years, I love to look at these and see just how far we’ve come in life.
Amanda, you are just as beautiful as ever and I am so very grateful to have met you in middle school. Life has been one giant adventure and you have been a big part of it – I’ve got the notebooks and photos and videos to prove it. You make a wonderful mother and I have no doubts that Michael will grow up to have the same thirst for life that you do. Congratulations and I cannot WAIT for October.
