So I had my first snow-session of the year and it.was.AWESOME. Ok, well the adults thought it was awesome… the kids were a bit cold. 😉
We scheduled ahead based on the forecast that was predicting warm, sunny, NOVEMBER weather (strange for this part of the country) and were only mildly surprised when snow kicked in the day before. Chandra and her family were ready, though – the kids threw on their Christmas jammies under their perfectly coordinated outfits and headed out into the snow for their shoot. Being from Colorado (and Montana) I was prepared… bring on the base layers!
I have to say… I think these images were 100% (or more) worth the cold fingers. I managed to scrounge up some extra gloves from my car and everyone had coats to throw on in between shots and we made the most of it. Honestly, in looking at these now I can’t even tell it was cold! Snow images make for beautiful portraits (talk about natural reflectors!!!) and really freeze memories in time… literally. Hah! Talk about some magical Indianapolis family photography, though.
In all honesty, it’s not common for folks to schedule sessions in the snow, but I think more people should. Indiana has four amazingly beautiful seasons, so why not make the most of each of them?! I LOVE my families that schedule twice a year and am offering a special rate for those that book double sessions in 2016. Who knows – maybe your next sessions will be in spring AND winter!? Or my favorite… fall and winter. <3
While you think about that, just scroll through these warm, snuggly, SNOWY beauties. Chandra – I think next year we need to throw in a little hot chocolate-and-marshmallow time. What do you think the boys would say!?
