Recently, while shooting this family, I had another opportunity to get out and explore Indianapolis a bit more. Guess what I discovered? The Indianapolis Museum of Art is 9 miles away from our house. With my art education degree and background, I’m not sure it really gets any better than this. Oh, wait. It does. Because part of the IMA grounds includes the Lily House, Lily Gardens, and for all you movie buffs out there, the Funky Bones featured in The Fault in Our Stars.

Back to my family, though, and the ones who made this whole discovery a possibility (I really need to get out and explore Indy more). Jason and Lindsay both work at the IMA – that’s where they met. So it’s only fitting that we would have our Shortie Session there. Before you see the rest of these images, I need to issue a disclaimer: Jason and Lindsay have really good hair genes and Jeff got these… but with CURLS. <3

I know this seems odd, but people’s hair is always something I notice… almost immediately. Blame it on my high school dreams of being a Pantene Pro-V model. Don’t take my word for it on their hair-worthiness… see for yourself!

Ok, so they met at the museum, they work at the museum, and their session was held at the museum. The museum is totally beautiful – and I haven’t even seen all of it, yet. We started out in their Pop Up Park right in their Cafe area. It’s a super-cute pop art installation piece with three ‘settings’ to hang out, explore, (and in our case) photograph. 

Jeff’s indoor attention quickly ran out. Let’s be honest, what two-year-old wants to sit inside playing with fabric marshmallows when you can be outdoors riding on your very own red, shiny tricycle!?

Two-year-old enthusiasm just kills me. He is giving it 120% right here… just check out those little fists.

Ok, so I have to admit… once Lindsay brought out the tricycle, it was really, really hard to get Jeff to do anything but ride, walk, or pull it around with him. Even if he became momentarily distracted by something else and ventured away from the tricycle, it didn’t last long and he was racing back towards it within seconds. I’m not complaining, though, because it gave me this…

… and this. How lucky am I? Are you checking out the perfectly synchronized running positions, here!?

Ahhh, to be this small again and be able to hang and swing from a hand rail. <3

Not for too long, though, because we’re off again with the tiny fists!!

You know you’ve had a good session when grass stains are involved. My favorite little detail of these end-of-session shots.

I shared a teen-tiny look into this image and the head-swaps that happened to make it all possible. It’s a combination of three images, and the outcome is perfect!

Blooper time. Remember how I mentioned that once the tricycle came out we couldn’t get Jeff to stop? Well, I meant literally. We kept up, but there was no stopping. Most of the time I was backpedaling because he was riding/running right into me. Every time he did it, I ‘beeped’ like a little car horn, backed up, and we would repeat the process. He thought it was great – I thought it was majorly adorable.

Anywho… he was just getting back onto his bike from running around with Mom and Dad on the lawn and I thought that we could (for two seconds as he was getting ready to take off) stop the bike for a quick photo. I was trying to cerate the illusion the bike was ‘stuck on a rock’. We couldn’t fool Jeff. He knew immediately what we were up to and he did NOT approve.

And Mom’s laugh? It’s because those are 100% crocodile tears. Don’t believe me? …

 

He was back on his way with this ((dry)) face just two seconds later. No harm done. 😉
