Indianapolis Family Photographer | casey and her camera
As I sit here debating what to write for Simon’s birthday, I think back on all of the 18 years we’ve had together. I’ve got memories galore, with this kid, and many more years of them to come. He will always be my ‘kid’ brother, even though he surpassed me in height (and strength) yeaaarrrsss ago. My most prominent memory? Sitting in the doctors office waiting room when he was just 6… I must have been about 16. We were waiting on our Mom, and to entertain a fidgety 6-year-old, I taught him how to draw cityscapes from a bird’s eye view. Thus the little architect was born.
As I look back on Simon’s 18 years, thus far, I realize how just how damn big his heart truly is. He’s always been a genuine person – is honest and open, willing to do things for the better of the community, unafraid to laugh at himself, open to differences, fights for what’s right… and in my eyes… hasn’t made a mistake, yet. It’s okay to make them, though, … really.
I don’t need photos to play a slideshow of my brother. It’s all in my head. Years and years and years of stories and memories. I could write a book. Simon, for all of the things that you are and all of the things that you someday will be, I am proud of the person you have become. I cannot wait for you to graduate and head off to college next year. I think it will be amazing and you will love it. …. also… I’m really wanting a house soon, so hurry up and design me one.
Happy Birthday, Dear Brother. I wish you the happiest of 18th birthdays and everything you could ever want in life.

And, for your personal enjoyment… a photo I found on my computer… likely from our sister…

Thanks so much big sister! I’ll start work on that house as soon as I can. Some of those pictures I had no idea you still had! Brings back memories…
A la lu too!
