Indianapolis Family Photographer | casey and her camera
Last month I took a quick 48-hour-trip to Cali for a couple of family shoots and a little bit of quality time with my old hometown and the ocean. I grew up near the water and had a chance to live a block and a half from it a few years ago… there’s nothing that soothes my souls and motivates me more than the ocean. <3
And while I was there, I had the chance to spend a bit of time with some old colleagues of mine – and their families! The first of which is Gloria and her son, Xoaquin. I met Gloria a few years ago through work and automatically fell in love with her bubbly personality. She’s the definition of a charismatic and strong woman – kind, positive, direct, determined, motivated… she’s literally the whole package.
And then there’s Xoaquin… a tiny spitting-image of his mom in both good-looks AND personality. I spent the evening at the park with them and am breaking down their family session into two parts. Part I: Graduation.
You see, Gloria graduated with her bachelor’s earlier this year, and while she’s chosen not to walk in the ceremony, she brought her cap and gown along for some graduation portraits. She has worked hard and long to earn her degree – all the while working and raising her son. And if you need an example of a woman who can conquer this, and then some… then Gloria is your girl.
Not only has she set the expectation and example for Xoaquin that graduation IS possible and WILL BE REAL… she now has her sights set on masters degree. 😉
Go get ’em, Gloria. You’ve got this!
<3
And if the admiration on his face in that last photo on the right doesn’t steal your heart, I don’t know what will. <3

Xoaquin and I are so fortunate for the opportunity to work with you on the west coast. Like the photos, your kind words are touching. You truly captured the genuine emotion in both mine and Xoaquin’s hearts. I can’t thank you enough Casey!
