I’m writing this post before I go through and select the images I want to include in this post because the truth is there are close to 300 images and I want to SHARE.THEM.ALL. But that would be crazy. I know it, you know it, we all know it. So I will write first and then pick based on how I feel.
First off, these two are just the sweetest – individually and as a couple. Nate reached out to me first and his emails were filled with just as much excitement as mine and we immediately clicked. Turns out, we’re both from Michigan (and Betsy, too!) and not too far from each other there, either. Nate and Betsy moved down to Indy around the same time that we relocated here from out west. I love puppies, they want a puppy… you know… it was pretty much a perfect match right from the get-go.
And then I met them. And I immediately adored them.
They’re this perfect balance of one another and are my type of people. They laugh almost constantly when together, love adventuring, are game for anything – especially if it has to do with the outdoors or fall, have this seriously drool-worthy vision for their 2017 wedding. So when we set up their engagement session, I was actually (and admittedly) slightly bummed. See, they scheduled their session for the beginning of November, which according to last year’s weather patterns would be FREEZING and completely bare of any color or leaves. We lost it all on Halloween last year and I was sad that our schedules didn’t align sooner in the season, but decided to make the most of it.
Fast forward to their session and holy moly… the fall stars aligned and the leaf gods gave us our blessing. Fall happened late this year and all of my November clients are getting the show of the year from Mother Nature. We had weather warm enough for these two to get giddy about stepping barefoot into the creek, even. Now, I didn’t say the water was warm… but they were game anyway! 😉
So we’re all set for our session and I head over to the park a few days in advance to check things out and scope the best spots for color since everything changes so drastically and quickly during fall, and to my dismay, find out that the park was adjusting gate hours for daylight savings EARLY this year. Which meant they wouldn’t be open for sunset on the day of their session!
This meant we’d either have to start early and lose our sunset time (blah – not my favorite option at all), move to an entirely new location (getting warmer) or use two locations (DREAM OPTION!). These guys were just so patient through all the changes and challenges of setting everything up and I could not be more grateful for their flexibility. I gifted them some additional time, we scheduled out our outfits and locations, and we set out to shoot and HOLY WOW.
This session.
I just kept repeating “GURL!!” over and over in my head while I edited my way through this session. There’s no better way to describe how this all turned out and how I feel about it than that. So, I give you… “GUUUURRRRRRLLLLLL!!”.
And, of course, Nate did a flawless job, as well. 😉
Yes. They even dipped their toes in the FRIGID water. <3 <3
And then snuggled barefoot next to the creek. Are you swooning yet?!
