I still consider myself to be fairly new to the community of Indianapolis engagement photographers, or just Indy photographers in general, even after two years of being here now. So new, that I haven’t really gotten a chance to explore all of the surrounding universities and colleges that this area has to offer… and there’s a lot of them. I did catch a small glimpse of Butler earlier this year, but that was it until these two lovebirds scheduled their engagement session at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. EEK!
Chelsea and Jeff drove all the way from Iowa (how spoiled am I!?) for their session in order to include their alma mater where they met, fell madly in love, and began their journey together. I arrived a bit early so I could check things out and was immediately nostalgic for my own college days. If only I’d had a chance to attend in my mid-twenties, I think I would have taken advantage of the experiences and community that campus life has to offer. Would it be weird for me to go back for a second bachelor’s at this point? 😉
As we strolled through campus, they recounted and shared some of their favorite memories meeting as a young couple on campus and then carrying that on as a long-distance relationship while Chelsea finished up after Jeff’s graduation. The campus was gorgeous, and in perfect peak-fall color. This time of year just wins me over again and again.
While they changed from one outfit to another I had a few moments to snag some ring shots for them, too! I don’t always get time to do these – I like to wholeheartedly invest my focus into my couples, especially knowing I will shoot the rings on their 2017 wedding day, but when opportunity arises, I try to snag a few. Okay… this one may or may not have had me photoshopping out one person who was taking a picture of ME taking a picture of THEM! Lol. People, I tell ya. Worth it, though. What a shot to end on. <3 One that will always encompass the story of their beginning.
