I think I’ve found my calling and while I think I’ve known it for a while, it only hit me when Nicole emailed me on her hunt for Indianapolis elopement photographers. I love all kinds of weddings, but I’ve always felt this intense connection to small, intimate weddings, elopement-style celebrations, backyard weddings, and… well, elopements. It comes from my own wedding story, of which we’ll be celebrating 4 years next week. I just love the simple, minimalistic, delightfully sentimental storytelling that comes from this style of wedding. It allows me to expand creatively, to immerse myself in a couple’s relationship and journey, and get to know the family on a first-name basis. It fuels me.

If I were to share my initial emails with Nicole, you’d think I’d gone overboard with exclamation marks. I’ll admit, when I initially emailed her back (only 30 minutes after she reached out and on a Sunday evening, at that), I wondered if I’d scare her off with my outlandish enthusiasm. I really was that excited, though. Her story and vision were perfect and I already felt connected to her, off of just one email. I remember gushing to my husband about her email and about how I could see it playing out in my head. When we met in-person for a consultation, I was relieved to find out that she not only appreciated my instant-reply, but was equally as enthused… our energy just played off of one another and continued to do so through till the end of their wedding.

Just last month I shared Nicole and Tyler’s engagement session and today I bring you the sweetest Indiana Statehouse wedding complete with sentiment tucked into every nook and cranny. To Nicole and Tyler, thank you for including me in such a perfect afternoon. I could not be happier for the both. Congratulations!
