One of my favorite parts of 2017 was becoming an Indianapolis Elopement Photographer, and this December elopement was the icing on that cake. As I write this post about my last elopement of 2017, I’ve already shot my first elopement of 2018. We’re off to an awesome start, folks!
Jorie’s sister reached out to me in early December to help her put together a semi-impromptu elopement that would be just perfect for Jorie and Andy. They had decided on December 22nd, the very last afternoon I would be in town before heading to Michigan for the holidays and everything quickly fell into place. I always love elopements that enable me to start with a bit of details and prep at a nearby location. I’m a big believer that these small moments really help paint the picture of the intimacy of an elopement. A new pair of shoes splurged on, a sentimental set of cuff links, a private moment between a father and a son before the ceremony, these are all moments just as important as the vows themselves. In this case, Jorie is extraordinarily talented and shooting Jorie and Andy’s details meant highlighting and featuring some of her art. Jorie not only designed and made the cufflinks Andy wore and the cuff bracelet she wore, but she also custom designed her dress. Jorie’s dress base is from Marie Gabriel, but with her background and degree in fashion design, she took it from there. I have to say, it was the perfect wintery, pre-Christmas wedding dress… cape and all. Swoon. She’s got her own jewelry line and you can find the link below!
I arrived early on their elopement day, wanting to get in a bit of extra time with the details, and serendipity prevailed as Jorie’s hair and makeup wasn’t yet done, which meant Andy was still in the room with his dad getting ready. We hadn’t planned on these shots, but with the shifted schedule, I took full advantage and was able to capture something special that I know means a lot to Andy.
These two said their ‘I do’s’ at the Indiana State House, which always proves to be a stunning backdrop for elopements, and in this case, a warm welcome from the outdoor temperatures. Victoria, their officiant, was phenomenal as always, and comes highly recommended for those of you considering an Indy elopement!
To Jorie and Andy, thank you for having me along for these moments. Your connection and strength as a couple shines through in your every interaction and I wish you endless years of happiness.
