This blog post marks the end of my ‘spring’ celebrations, if you can believe it. Of course, it’s not that I’m super behind on blogging, it’s just that the pandemic of 2020 has really thrown a wrench into wedding planning (and the wedding industry in itself) and summer has been the season for celebration this year.
You might remember Katie and Andrew from their amazing fall engagement session with their bikes. Their celebrations were originally scheduled for April of this year, but COVID had different plans in mind for them and we ended up celebrating (in a slightly different fashion) at the end of July. I feel a bit spoiled to have been able to shoot an Indiana City Brewing Company wedding two years in a row now, and almost a year apart to date, but I’ll take it. And hopefully I’ll be back again soon – it’s such an amazing space to shoot!
Katie and Andrew took everything in stride as they adjusted their celebrations to fit the current times, but the semi-unintentional ‘exit’ shot from the end of our time together takes the cake for me. After last year’s exit shot on the front steps of ICB, when they mentioned maybe having everyone come out for a full group shot since their guest count was so small, I jumped at the chance to recreate something similar. Naturally, this shot wins out for me – I love everything about it from the energy, to the sentiment of having everyone documented, to the composition and framing. But if you look closely enough, the best part of it all is in the front on the right. I’ll let you find it for yourselves!
Katie and Andrew, congratulations to you both. What a year it’s been and you’ve handled everything with such patience and grace. I wish you both an enjoyable, but above all else relaxing, rest of your year!
On an unrelated note I should’ve gathered from our conversations from fall session that we were basically music soul mates, but hearing their playlist flow at their summer elopement wedding me singing along to nearly every song. I’m not sure they’re for hire for weddings, but maybe I should plant that seed… or at least get their wedding playlist from them. To Katie and Andrew!!
